The parallel between your work inbox and Pavlov’s dog experiment

For those not familiar, Pavlov was one of the godfathers of behavioural conditioning and was famous for an experiment with dogs whereby he would ring a bell and then feed the dogs. Before long, the dogs associated the sounds of the bell with being fed and therefore started salivating and drooling at the sound of the bell — even if it wasn’t dinner time.
